I interned for the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) contract which works under the Foundational Learning Directorate (FLD). More information on the university is located at

GDIT ISDs are responsible for validating and verifying instructional materials for government
courses. ISDs primarily conduct Limited Quality Reviews (LQRs), 508 reviews, Functional
Quality Reviews (FQRs), Test Bank loads for online training (OLT), instructor led training
(ILT), and now virtual instructor led training (VILT).
The goal of the internship was to compare and contrast learning strategies and developmental tools.
Research was conducted to analyze the current VILT training and a proposal will be created
with recommendations for an authoring tool for DAU trainers.
A presentation was created for the following learning objectives:
- Given applicable tools and resources, define VILT.
- Given applicable tools and resources, compare OLT, blended learning, and VILT.
- Given applicable tools and resources, research authoring tools and capabilities.
- Given applicable tools and resources, create design standards for VILT courses.
- Compare and contrast of Storyline 360 and Rise.
- Compare and contrast of MS Teams and Webex.

My responsibilities included:
- Researching various VILT and other media delivery platforms
- Researching Articulate 360 package
- Researching MS Teams and Webex
- Presenting findings in a presentation
Skills Obtained
The internship provided me with the necessary skills needed for the analysis phase of any project. I learned about the client and the goal of the deliverable. I brainstormed with the ISD on areas a DAU designer would need to learn to conduct training from a classroom environment to a virtual environment.
Considerations for cost, technology, and the experience of the user were inputted in the research phase. Guidelines changed due to the client obtaining the Articulate 360 package and moving from Webex to MS Teams. Comparison and conversion recommendation were given to incorporate transferring from Composica to Articulate.
Skills mastered in the internship are:

Deliverable
The final product is a PowerPoint presentation defining VILT, comparing learning strategies, researching Articulate 360 package and comparing collaboration platforms MS Teams and Webex.
